Austria: Inflation rises in October from the prior month
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices rose 4.0% in annual terms in October, following a 3.9% increase in the previous month.
Relative to the prior month’s data, there were higher price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+3.9% in annual terms vs +3.7% in September) and housing and utilities (+8.7% vs +7.8% in September). In contrast, there were milder price pressures for transportation (+2.7% vs +2.8% in September) and recreation (+2.6% vs +2.7% in September). Finally, the variation in restaurants and hotels prices was the same as in the prior month (+5.5% in October and September).
Meanwhile, consumer prices increased 4.0% in annual terms in October, unchanged from the previous month’s reading.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.50% in October on a month-on-month basis, following a flat reading in the prior month.
