Belarus: Inflation decelerates in December from November
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 6.8% on a year-on-year basis in December, following a 7.0% rise in the prior month. December’s reading was the weakest since April 2025.
Relative to the prior month’s data, there were milder price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+8.9% on a year-on-year basis vs +10.1% in November) and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+9.2% vs +10.3% in November). In contrast, there were higher price pressures for transportation (+5.2% vs +4.7% in November) and clothing (+2.4% vs +1.8% in November).
Lastly, consumer prices increased 0.30% in December on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.40% rise in the previous month.
