Belgium: Economic sentiment improves in January
Latest reading: Economic sentiment increased to 92.7 in January, following December’s 90.3. The latest reading was below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
In January, sentiment brightened in the industrial sector (-12.4 vs -14.2 in December), the services sector (+1.0 vs -6.4 in December) and the retail sector (-12.5 vs -13.9 in December). On the flipside, sentiment darkened in the construction sector (-10.6 vs -6.5 in December) and among consumers (-13.9 vs -13.8 in December).
