Belgium: Economic sentiment declines in March
Latest reading: Economic sentiment went down to 89.5 in March, following February’s 92.0. The latest reading was below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy and it was the lowest since April 2025.
In March, sentiment darkened in the construction sector (-13.8 vs -13.6 in February), the services sector (-0.9 vs +7.2 in February) and among consumers (-18.2 vs -14.0 in February). On the flipside, sentiment turned more upbeat in the industrial sector (-14.2 vs -14.9 in February) and the retail sector (-9.3 vs -9.7 in February).
