Belgium: Industrial production shrinks in August
Latest reading: Industrial production fell 0.4% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in August, following a 1.0% increase in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s data, the reading for manufacturing worsened in August (-0.5% on a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis vs +2.8% in July). In contrast, readings improved for energy (+0.5% vs -13.5% in July) and mining and quarrying (+3.8% vs -0.8% in July).
On a calendar-adjusted year-on-year basis, industrial production rose 0.1% in August, following a 0.3% decline in the prior month.
