Brazil: Inflation decelerates in November from October
Latest reading: Consumer prices increased 4.5% on a year-on-year basis in November, following a 4.7% rise in the previous month. November’s reading was the weakest since September 2024.
Relative to the prior month’s data, there were reduced price pressures for transportation (+3.0% on a year-on-year basis vs +3.7% in October) and food and beverages (+3.9% vs +5.5% in October). In contrast, there were more notable price pressures for housing and utilities (+6.6% vs +4.4% in October), clothing (+5.7% vs +5.1% in October), and education (+6.3% vs +6.2% in October).
Meanwhile, core consumer prices increased 5.2% in annual terms in November, following a 5.1% rise in the prior month.
Finally, consumer prices were up 0.18% in November in month-on-month terms, following a 0.09% increase in the prior month.
