China: Manufacturing and non-manufacturing PMIs improve in June
Latest reading: The National Bureau of Statistics’ Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) rose to 49.7 in June from May’s 49.5. As such, the index moved closer to the 50.0 no-change threshold, signaling a softer deterioration in manufacturing sector operating conditions compared to the previous month. There were stronger readings for new orders and output in June.
The National Bureau of Statistics’ non-Manufacturing PMI stood at 50.5 in June, up from May’s 50.3. This was due to a jump in construction activity, as the services PMI declined slightly.
