Colombia: Inflation accelerates in March from February
Latest reading: Consumer prices were up 5.6% on a year-on-year basis in March, following a 5.3% increase in the prior month. March’s reading was the strongest since September 2024.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, there were higher price pressures for housing and utilities (+4.2% in annual terms vs +3.9% in February), food and non-alcoholic beverages (+6.3% vs +5.8% in February) and restaurants and hotels (+9.9% vs +9.6% in February).
Meanwhile, core consumer prices were up 6.3% in annual terms in March, following a 6.1% rise in the previous month.
Finally, consumer prices increased 0.78% in March on a month-on-month basis, following a 1.08% increase in the previous month.
