Costa Rica: Economic activity decelerates in September
Latest reading: Economic activity was up 3.8% in annual terms in September, following a 5.5% increase in the prior month.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, readings in September softened for agriculture, forestry and fishing (-2.6% on a year-on-year basis vs -1.8% in August), manufacturing (+7.0% vs +12.9% in August), the construction sector (-3.6% vs +0.8% in August) and domestic trade (+2.9% vs +3.2% in August). In contrast, the reading for information and communication improved in September (+4.8% vs +3.6% in August).
In seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms, economic activity declined 2.5% in September, following a 0.6% fall in the previous month.
