Costa Rica: Economic activity accelerates in October
Latest reading: Economic activity rose 5.4% on a year-on-year basis in October, following a 4.4% increase in the prior month.
Relative to the previous month’s data, readings in October improved for manufacturing (+11.0% in annual terms vs +7.3% in September), the construction sector (+4.3% vs -3.9% in September) and domestic trade (+3.2% vs +2.1% in September). In contrast, readings worsened for agriculture, forestry and fishing (+0.7% vs +2.5% in September) and information and communication (+4.5% vs +5.5% in September).
In seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms, economic activity was up 1.2% in October, following a 1.3% decline in the prior month.
