Cyprus: Economic sentiment falls in January
Latest reading: Economic sentiment dropped to 105.2 in January, following December’s 107.0, dropping to a seven-month low. Still the reading remained among the strongest in the EU and above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
In January, sentiment darkened in the industrial sector (-0.2 vs +3.8 in December), the construction sector (+0.5 vs +13.9 in December), the retail sector (+1.5 vs +6.2 in December) and among consumers (-10.5 vs -10.2 in December). On the flipside, sentiment improved in the services sector (+15.0 vs +13.2 in December).
