Latest reading: Economic sentiment declined to 99.1 in March, following February’s 105.4. The latest reading was below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy and it was the lowest since August 2022.
In March, sentiment darkened in the industrial sector (+3.2 vs +4.0 in February), the construction sector (0.0 vs +4.4 in February), the services sector (-10.4 vs +9.1 in February), the retail sector (-0.2 vs +3.2 in February) and among consumers (-26.1 vs -12.3 in February).
