Cyprus: Industrial production speeds up in January
Latest reading: Industrial production increased 4.6% on a calendar-adjusted year-on-year basis in January, following 2.2% growth in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, the reading for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply improved in January (+18.1% on a calendar-adjusted year-on-year basis vs -2.4% in December). In contrast, the reading for mining and quarrying softened in January (-13.1% vs -5.1% in December). Finally, the variation in manufacturing was the same as in the prior month (+3.1% in January and December).
In calendar and seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms, industrial production increased 2.0% in January, following a 1.4% fall in the previous month.
