Czech Republic: Industrial production falls in January
Latest reading: Industrial production fell 2.6% on a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis in January, following a 1.1% increase in the previous month. January’s reading was the weakest since July 2023.
Relative to the prior month’s data, readings in January softened for manufacturing (-3.8% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms vs +1.4% in December) and mining and quarrying (-6.2% vs +10.0% in December). In contrast, the reading for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply improved in January (+11.2% vs -4.1% in December).
In working-day adjusted year-on-year terms, industrial production was up 2.8% in January, following a 4.9% increase in the prior month.
