Latest reading: Economic sentiment went up to 91.8 in January, following December’s 89.9. The latest reading was below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
In January, sentiment brightened in the industrial sector (-19.3 vs -20.0 in December), the construction sector (-10.0 vs -10.9 in December), the retail sector (+14.1 vs +7.7 in December) and among consumers (-7.8 vs -11.2 in December). However, sentiment worsened in the services sector (+8.4 vs +9.0 in December).
