Latest reading: Economic sentiment went up to 94.9 in November, following October’s 94.4. Still, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
In November, sentiment brightened in the services sector (+4.5 vs +2.4 in October) and among consumers (-6.5 vs -7.5 in October). In contrast, sentiment darkened in the industrial sector (-5.6 vs -4.8 in October) and the retail sector (-0.6 vs +0.5 in October). Sentiment in the construction sector was unchanged from the previous month at -25.1.
