France: Economic sentiment increases in January
Latest reading: Economic sentiment went up to 100.4 in January, following December’s 94.6. The latest reading was above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy and it was the highest since March 2024.
In January, sentiment improved in the industrial sector (-1.5 vs -8.5 in December), the retail sector (-12.0 vs -12.8 in December) and among consumers (-15.6 vs -16.2 in December). In contrast, sentiment worsened in the construction sector (-16.1 vs -15.2 in December) and the services sector (-1.7 vs -1.6 in December).
