France: Inflation slows in October from September
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices increased 0.8% in annual terms in October, following a 1.1% increase in the previous month.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, there were softer price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+1.4% in annual terms vs +1.9% in September), housing and utilities (-1.2% vs -0.7% in September), recreation (+0.4% vs +0.7% in September) and transportation (+0.4% vs +0.7% in September). Finally, the variation in restaurants and hotels prices was the same as in the prior month (+2.2% in October and September).
Meanwhile, consumer prices increased 0.9% in annual terms in October, following a 1.2% rise in the prior month.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.09% in October on a month-on-month basis, following a 1.06% fall in the previous month.
