Germany: Economic sentiment improves in January
Latest reading: Economic sentiment rose to 93.2 in January, following December’s 90.2. The latest reading was below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy and it was the highest since June 2023.
In January, sentiment improved in the industrial sector (-17.5 vs -20.8 in December), the construction sector (-11.0 vs -11.9 in December), the services sector (+5.8 vs +3.3 in December), the retail sector (-24.9 vs -25.1 in December) and among consumers (-9.2 vs -11.5 in December).
