Germany: Industrial production shrinks in February
Latest reading: Industrial production declined 0.3% in calendar-adjusted month-on-month terms in February, following a flat reading in the previous month and undershooting market expectations.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, the reading for energy worsened in February (+0.3% on a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis vs +11.3% in January). In contrast, readings picked up for industrial production (0.0% vs -0.2% in January), mining and quarrying (+5.2% vs -10.9% in January) and construction sector (-1.2% vs -2.6% in January).
In calendar-adjusted year-on-year terms, industrial production flatlined in February, following a 0.9% drop in the previous month.
