Germany: Merchandise trade surplus shrinks in February
Latest reading: In February, the trade balance was EUR +19.8 billion, following a EUR +20.3 billion reading in the prior month. Over the last 12 months, the trade balance summed to EUR +210.0 billion.
Merchandise exports increased 3.6% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in February, following a 1.5% drop in the previous month. February’s reading was the strongest since May 2022. Merchandise imports rose 4.7% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in February, coming on the back of a 5.1% decline in the previous month. February’s reading was the strongest since May 2023.
