Greece: Economic sentiment drops in January
Latest reading: Economic sentiment fell to 105.4 in January, following December’s 106.9 and hitting its lowest level since February 2024. Still, the reading remained among the strongest in the EU and above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
In January, sentiment darkened in the industrial sector (+2.8 vs +5.6 in December), the services sector (+31.3 vs +31.5 in December) and among consumers (-50.3 vs -47.0 in December). In contrast, sentiment turned more upbeat in the construction sector (+20.8 vs +15.8 in December) and the retail sector (+10.6 vs -7.4 in December).
