Hungary: Inflation eases in February from January
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 1.4% in annual terms in February, following a 2.0% rise in the prior month. February’s reading was the weakest since November 2016.
Relative to the previous month’s data, there were reduced price pressures for clothing and footwear (-1.0% in annual terms vs -0.1% in January), food and non-alcoholic beverages (-3.2% vs -2.0% in January), housing and energy (+3.8% vs +5.0% in January) and transport (-3.2% vs -3.1% in January).
Meanwhile, core consumer prices increased 2.1% on a year-on-year basis in February, following a 2.7% rise in the previous month.
Lastly, consumer prices were up 0.12% in February in month-on-month terms, following a 0.31% increase in the previous month.
