Italy: Economic sentiment improves in January
Latest reading: Economic sentiment increased to 102.7 in January, following December’s 101.4. The latest reading was above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy and it was the highest since April 2023.
In January, sentiment brightened in the industrial sector (-5.8 vs -6.4 in December), the services sector (+8.8 vs +5.5 in December) and among consumers (-15.4 vs -16.4 in December). On the flipside, sentiment worsened in the construction sector (-1.7 vs +3.2 in December) and the retail sector (+7.7 vs +13.5 in December).
