Italy: Inflation picks up in February from January
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices were up 1.5% on a year-on-year basis in February, following a 1.0% rise in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, there were higher price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+2.4% on a year-on-year basis vs +2.3% in January), transportation (-0.5% vs -1.4% in January), recreation (+1.4% vs +1.3% in January) and restaurants and hotels (+6.1% vs +3.5% in January). In contrast, price pressures reduced for housing and utilities in February (-2.1% vs -1.8% in January).
Meanwhile, consumer prices were up 1.5% on a year-on-year basis in February, following a 1.0% rise in the previous month.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.50% in February on a month-on-month basis, following a 1.00% fall in the previous month.
