Kenya: Inflation eases in November
Latest reading: Consumer prices increased 4.5% on a year-on-year basis in November, following a 4.6% rise in the previous month.
Relative to the previous month’s data, price pressures eased for food and non-alcoholic beverages in November (+7.7% on a year-on-year basis vs +8.0% in October). In contrast, price pressures were higher for transportation (+5.1% vs +4.8% in October) and clothing (+3.0% vs +2.9% in October). Finally, the change in housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels prices was the same as in the prior month (+1.9% in November and October).
Lastly, consumer prices were up 0.16% in November in month-on-month terms, following a 0.19% rise in the prior month.
