Latvia: Economic sentiment worsens in January
Latest reading: Economic sentiment fell to 99.6 in January, following December’s 100.9. The latest reading was below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
In January, sentiment darkened in the industrial sector (-4.0 vs -3.8 in December), the construction sector (-7.9 vs -7.0 in December) and among consumers (-11.4 vs -8.3 in December). In contrast, sentiment improved in the services sector (+4.1 vs +4.0 in December) and the retail sector (+3.2 vs +2.4 in December).
