Latvia: Industrial production accelerates in January
Latest reading: Industrial production increased 13.3% in annual terms in January, following a 1.0% rise in the prior month. January’s reading was the strongest since April 2021.
Relative to the previous month’s data, readings in January improved for manufacturing (+1.3% on a year-on-year basis vs +0.2% in December) and electricity and gas supply (+57.0% vs +8.8% in December). In contrast, the reading for mining and quarrying softened in January (-30.8% vs -18.6% in December).
In seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms, industrial production was up 3.3% in January, following a 0.8% fall in the previous month.
