Latvia: Inflation rises in October from the prior month
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices increased 4.3% in annual terms in October, following a 4.2% rise in the previous month.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, price pressures were higher for housing and utilities in October (+6.2% in annual terms vs +4.1% in September). In contrast, there were reduced price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+5.7% vs +6.9% in September) and restaurants and hotels (+5.5% vs +6.3% in September). Finally, the changes in prices for recreation and transportation were the same as in the prior month (+2.1% and +2.6%, respectively).
Meanwhile, consumer prices increased 4.2% on a year-on-year basis in October, following a 4.0% rise in the prior month.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.25% in October in month-on-month terms, following a 0.12% rise in the previous month.
