Latest reading: Economic sentiment fell to 91.5 in October from September’s 97.1, marking the lowest reading since August 2024. Consequently, the index fell further below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
In October, sentiment deteriorated in the industrial sector (-29.0 vs -20.4 in September). However, sentiment improved in the construction sector (-13.7 vs -21.3 in September) and among consumers (-10.0 vs -10.1 in September).
