Malaysia: Industrial output growth gains steam in March
Latest reading: Industrial output increased 3.2% compared to the same month a year earlier in March, which followed February’s 1.5% increase. Looking at the details of the release, mining and quarrying output gathered steam, while manufacturing output grew at a softer rate in March.
On a monthly basis, industrial production rose 1.7% in seasonally adjusted terms in March, contrasting February’s 0.3% fall and marking the best result since January 2024. Meanwhile, the trend with the annual average growth of industrial production coming in at 3.5%, February’s 3.5%.
