Malaysia: Industrial output growth loses pace in April
Latest reading: Industrial output increased 2.7% compared to the same month a year earlier in April, which was a deterioration from March’s 3.2% increase. Looking at the details of the release, manufacturing output accelerated in April, while mining and quarrying output swung to contraction.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, factory output fell 0.2% in April (March: +1.8% mom s.a.). Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average growth of industrial production coming in at 3.3%, down from March’s 3.6% reading.
