Latest reading: Economic sentiment declined to 100.8 in March, following February’s 102.3. The latest reading was above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
In March, sentiment darkened in the services sector (+4.8 vs +4.9 in February), the retail sector (+2.9 vs +5.1 in February) and among consumers (-18.1 vs -12.1 in February). In contrast, sentiment turned more upbeat in the industrial sector (-0.1 vs -0.7 in February) and the construction sector (+22.3 vs +20.8 in February).
