Netherlands: Inflation accelerates in February from January
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices increased 2.3% on a year-on-year basis in February, following a 2.2% rise in the previous month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, there were higher price pressures for transportation (+3.4% in annual terms vs +2.1% in January) and restaurants and hotels (+5.5% vs +3.7% in January). In contrast, there were reduced price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+1.2% vs +2.0% in January), housing and utilities (+2.6% vs +3.1% in January) and recreation (+1.4% vs +2.2% in January).
Meanwhile, consumer prices were up 2.4% in annual terms in February, unchanged from the prior month’s reading.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices increased 1.50% in February on a month-on-month basis, following a 1.31% fall in the prior month.
