Poland: Inflation stabilizes in February
Latest reading: Consumer prices were up 2.1% in annual terms in February, stable from the prior month’s reading and below the midpoint of the National Bank of Poland’s target range of 1.5–3.5%.
Relative to the prior month’s data, there were higher price pressures for energy (+3.9% in February vs +3.1% in January) and transport (-5.7% vs -5.8% in January). In contrast, price pressures eased for recreation, sports, and culture (+2.4% vs +4.3% in January), and restaurants and hotels (+4.6% vs +5.1% in January), while the change in food and non-alcoholic beverages prices was the same as in the prior month (+2.4% in February and January).
Lastly, consumer prices rose 0.30% in February in month-on-month terms, following a 0.70% rise in the prior month.
