Poland: Retail sales speed up in February
Latest reading: Retail sales were up 5.2% in annual terms in February, following a 4.4% rise in the previous month.
Relative to the previous month’s data, readings in February improved for motor vehicles, motorcycles and parts (+2.7% on a year-on-year basis vs -4.5% in January) and fuel (+10.2% vs +4.7% in January). In contrast, readings softened for textiles, clothing and footwear (+0.8% vs +17.7% in January), furniture, radio, TV and household appliances (+7.2% vs +10.5% in January) and food, beverages and tobacco (+0.2% vs +4.3% in January).
In seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms, retail sales were down 1.1% in February, following 0.5% growth in the previous month.
