Portugal: Inflation picks up in February from the prior month
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices increased 2.1% in annual terms in February, following a 1.9% increase in the previous month.
Relative to the previous month’s data, there were higher price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+3.6% on a year-on-year basis vs +3.2% in January), transportation (-0.6% vs -1.0% in January) and restaurants and hotels (+4.5% vs +3.9% in January). In contrast, there were reduced price pressures for housing and utilities (+2.5% vs +2.8% in January) and recreation (+1.0% vs +1.6% in January).
Meanwhile, consumer prices rose 2.1% in February, following a 1.9% rise in the prior month.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices were up 0.11% in February in month-on-month terms, following a 1.02% fall in the prior month.
