Slovakia: Economic sentiment rises in December
Latest reading: Economic sentiment went up to 97.6 in December, following November’s 91.7 and marking a four-month high. Consequently, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
In December, sentiment improved in the industrial sector (+3.6 vs -8.5 in November), the construction sector (+1.0 vs -2.9 in November), the retail sector (+14.2 vs +12.0 in November) and among consumers (-23.0 vs -23.7 in November). On the flipside, sentiment worsened in the services sector (+3.9 vs +4.6 in November).
