Spain: Industrial production shrinks in December
Latest reading: Industrial production fell 2.5% in working-day and seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in December, following a 1.1% increase in the prior month. December’s reading was the weakest since March 2022.
Relative to the prior month’s data, readings in December worsened for consumer goods (-1.5% in working day and seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms vs +0.9% in November), capital goods (-1.7% vs +1.3% in November), intermediate goods (-1.8% vs +0.5% in November) and energy (-0.1% vs +1.1% in November).
In working-day and seasonally adjusted year-on-year terms, industrial production fell 0.3% in December, following a 4.6% increase in the prior month.
