Latest reading: Economic sentiment dropped to 99.8 in March, following February’s 100.1. The latest reading was below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
In March, sentiment worsened in the services sector (+20.4 vs +23.4 in February), the retail sector (+15.3 vs +23.5 in February) and among consumers (-4.4 vs -2.6 in February). On the flipside, sentiment brightened in the industrial sector (+0.1 vs -2.9 in February) and the construction sector (-2.7 vs -9.1 in February).
