Switzerland: Retail sales rebound in September
Latest reading: Retail sales rose 0.6% on a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis in September, following a 0.2% fall in the previous month.
Relative to the previous month’s data, readings in September improved for food, beverages, and tobacco (+1.0% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms vs -0.1% in August) and household equipment (+0.4% vs -2.3% in August). In contrast, the reading for automotive fuel worsened in September (-1.7% vs +1.2% in August).
In calendar-adjusted year-on-year terms, retail sales were up 1.5% in September, following a 0.4% drop in the previous month.
