Turkey: Current account deficit falls in March
Latest reading: The current account recorded a USD 4.1 billion deficit in March, improving from the USD 4.3 billion deficit posted in February (March 2024: USD 4.1 billion deficit). Meanwhile, in the 12 months leading up to March, the current account posted a USD 12.6 billion deficit, matching the USD 12.6 billion deficit booked in February.
The merchandise trade balance improved from the previous month, recording a USD 4.8 billion deficit in March (February 2025: USD 5.5 billion deficit). Merchandise exports climbed 5.1% annually in March (February: +1.9% year-on-year). Meanwhile, merchandise imports rose 3.5% in annual terms in March (February: +4.5% yoy).
