Ukraine: Inflation hits 16-month low in December
Latest reading: Consumer prices were up 8.0% on a year-on-year basis in December, following a 9.3% rise in the prior month. December’s reading was the weakest since August 2024.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, price pressures reduced for food and non-alcoholic beverages in December (+10.2% on a year-on-year basis vs +12.1% in November). In contrast, price pressures were higher for transportation in December (+6.1% vs +5.9% in November). Finally, the change in housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels prices was the same as in the prior month (+2.3% in December and November).
Meanwhile, core consumer prices increased 8.0% in annual terms in December, following a 9.3% rise in the prior month.
Lastly, consumer prices increased 0.20% in December in month-on-month terms, following a 0.40% increase in the previous month.
