United Kingdom: Inflation ebbs in November from the prior month
Latest reading: Consumer prices increased 3.2% in annual terms in November, following a 3.6% increase in the prior month. November’s reading was the weakest since March 2025 and well below market expectations, but was still above the Bank of England’s 2.0% target.
Relative to the prior month’s data, there were reduced price pressures for recreation and culture (+2.8% on a year-on-year basis vs +2.9% in October) and food and non-alcoholic beverages (+4.2% vs +4.9% in October). Finally, the variation in transportation prices was the same as in the prior month (+3.7% in November and October).
Meanwhile, core consumer prices were up 3.2% on a year-on-year basis in November, following a 3.4% rise in the prior month.
Finally, consumer prices fell 0.21% in November on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.38% rise in the prior month.
