Industrial production gains steam in October
Latest reading: Industrial production rose 0.8% on a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis in October, following a 0.3% increase in the previous month. Relative to the previous month's figures, readings in October improved for durable consumer goods (+0.9% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms vs -8.8% in September) and capital goods (+2.4% vs 0.0% in September). In contrast, readings softened for non-durable consumer goods (-1.0% vs +6.3% in September) and intermediate goods (+0.7% vs +1.1% in September). On a year-on-year basis, industrial production increased 3.3% in October, following a 0.4% fall in the prior month.
