Merchandise trade surplus widens in May
Latest reading: In May, the trade balance was USD +3.5 billion, following a USD +3.2 billion figure in the prior month. Over the last 12 months, the trade balance summed to USD +44.4 billion. Merchandise exports rose 38.9% in annual terms in May, following 49.1% growth in the prior month. Merchandise imports were up 23.2% in year-on-year terms in May, following a 34.3% rise in the previous month.
