Industrial production contracts less quickly in February
Latest reading: Industrial production was down 2.5% on a year-on-year basis in February, following a 3.8% drop in the prior month. Relative to the prior month's figures, readings in February improved for manufacturing (+1.9% on a year-on-year basis vs -4.2% in January) and mining and quarrying (-1.3% vs -16.3% in January). In contrast, the reading for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply worsened in February (-31.9% vs +0.2% in January). On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, industrial production declined 0.1% in February, following 0.4% growth in the prior month.
