Retail sales accelerate in October
Latest reading: Retail sales rose 0.7% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in October, following 0.5% growth in the prior month. Relative to the previous month's data, readings in October improved for household equipment (+1.4% on a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis vs +0.7% in September) and automotive fuel (+0.1% vs -2.1% in September). In contrast, the reading for food, beverages, and tobacco worsened in October (-0.5% vs +0.9% in September). In calendar-adjusted year-on-year terms, retail sales increased 2.7% in October, following 1.8% growth in the previous month.
