Inflation decelerates in November from the prior month
Latest reading: Consumer prices were up 1.2% in annual terms in November, following a 1.5% increase in the prior month. November's reading was the weakest since March 2021. Relative to the prior month's data, there were milder price pressures for food (+1.5% on a year-on-year basis vs +2.0% in October), housing (+1.9% vs +2.0% in October) and education and entertainment (+1.2% vs +1.5% in October). In contrast, price pressures were higher for transportation in November (-1.1% vs -1.4% in October). Finally, consumer prices were down 0.14% in November in month-on-month terms, following a 0.47% rise in the previous month.
