Inflation eases in March from the prior month
Latest reading: Consumer prices were up 1.2% in annual terms in March, following a 1.8% rise in the previous month. Relative to the previous month's figures, there were reduced price pressures for food (-0.2% in annual terms vs +0.2% in February), housing (+2.0% vs +2.1% in February) and education and entertainment (+2.1% vs +4.6% in February). In contrast, price pressures were higher for transportation in March (0.0% vs -0.9% in February). Lastly, consumer prices fell 0.51% in March in month-on-month terms, following a 0.65% increase in the previous month.
